Religious Volunteers
Religious Volunteers work with detained youth at the Juvenile Detention and Assessment Centers and ARISE Program. They are instrumental in providing religious services, emotional support and spiritual guidance to our youth.
Requirements for Religious Volunteers
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Not on active parole or probation.
- Must have a valid California ID or driver’s license.
- Must pass a background investigation.
- Must be an active/regular member of the church.
- Must have at least one year of volunteer/counseling experience in their church.
- Must provide a letter of reference from the church where you gained your experience.
- Must meet the documentation requirements of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
- Must commit to volunteering a minimum of eight hours per month for one year.

Application process for Religious Volunteers
- Complete and submit the application. Incomplete applications will be returned.
- Complete a screening interview.
- Provide valid California ID card or driver’s license.
- Complete Live Scan fingerprinting.
- Pass a background investigation.
- Applicant will be required to attend a mandatory volunteer orientation and training.
Additional Process Requirements for Catholic Religious Volunteers:
- Attend training workshops with the Diocese of San Bernardino.
- Provide proof of completion.
Additional Process Requirements for Protestant Religious Volunteers:
- Attend training workshops with the Pacific Youth Corrections Ministry.
- Provide proof of completion.
